Culture and alpine nature

This is a journey through the protected areas of the Val Grande National Park and the Devero Natural Park, where the rural culture of the Alpine regions has not spoilt the environment. If you want to discover the Alpine environment and culture, this exciting trip is for you!

1st Day: arrival at a good 3-star hotel by the lake, check-in, dinner and welcome cocktail in the evening, meeting with the tour leader.

2nd Day: transfer by bus to the outing’s starting point. Impressive walk through the higher parts of the Valgrande National Park, with plenty of spectacular views of Lake Maggiore and the surrounding Alps. Capella Fina – Pian Cavallone – Intragna – Return to the hotel.

3rd Day: transfer by bus to the starting point: you will go for a fantastic walk admiring views, historic ruins, plateaus, meadows, abandoned pastures and waterfalls with crystal clear water. Cicogna – Alpe Pra – Alpe Leciurni – Pogallo – Cicogna (duration about 6 h – height difference: about  900 metres). Return to the hotel.

4th Day: choose your own activity (visit to the Borromean Islands or something else)

5th Day: meeting with the group leader and transfer to the Devero Alps.  Luggage moved to Crampiolo, where you will be staying for the next few days.  Check in and lunch with the group. Departure for Lake Sangiatto in the afternoon – visit to the pastures where the famous Bettelmatt cheese is made – return crossing pastures and conifer forests.

6th Day: outing to Valle Buscagna and the Black Lake

7th Day: outing to Lake Devero – Alpe Forno – Mount Cobernas

8th Day: breakfast all together, transfer of the group and luggage to Domodossola

Height difference: 500 to 1,200 metres max per day – average duration of walks: 4.5 to 6 hours

• 4 nights (BB service) in a good, 3-star hotel quite near the lake and the bathing areas. Special breakfast for ‘athletes’, hot tea available for flasks (packed lunch available);
• 2 dinners in the hotel and  1 dinner in an agritourism resort on the hills by the lake;
• All the transfers included in the programme;
• 3 nights, full-board, in Crampiolo, about 30 minutes’ walk from the nearest road suitable for vehicles The rooms are plainly furnished but have a bathroom, the pleasant dining room is in alpine style;
• 2 dinners  in Crampiolo;
• 1 dinner in the agritourism resort of Alpe Devero, walk by moonlight included;
• A guide for each of the 5 outings;
