Lake Maggiore: nature and cinema with Locarno Film Festival

Let the wonders of Lake Maggiore enchant you with the fantastic Borromean Islands, the Italian gardens and the excellent local, traditional restaurants. Be the heroes of your holiday and enjoy the international atmosphere of the Locarno Film Festival, during which films will be shown (Locarno Film Festival: 04.08.10 - 14.08.10).

1st Day: arrive in the Borromean Gulf; settle in the Zacchera Hotel (4-star) in Stresa-Baveno. All the hotels are excellent. You will be given a superior double room with a view of the lake or the swimming pool. Dinner in the hotel

2nd Day: morning: guided tour of Isola Bella and Isola Pescatori with a private motorboat. Lunch in a very good restaurant on the island. Late afternoon: private transfer to Cannobbio, dinner in an excellent restaurant and arrival in Locarno. One of the films of the festival will be projected in the main square, which has a truly unique atmosphere, with thousands of people sitting in front of the biggest screen in Europe and enjoying the films of young and promising film producers.

3rd Day: outing to Mount Mottarone (late morning). The cable car departing from Piazzale Lido will take you to the Alpino station, to visit the famous Alpinia garden (with plants unique to the Alps) and admire a very special view of the islands. The next stop is the top of Mount Mottarone. A healthy walk will take you to the mountain shelter where traditional food is waiting for you. The mountain air will have given you a good appetite, so enjoy the local cheeses and cold meat cuts, good “polenta” and meat with very good wine. Return to the hotel is scheduled for early in the afternoon; you will have time to relax on the beach or by the pool.  Dinner as you wish

4th Day: breakfast before returning home.
