Your discoveries by mountain bike

The tour is addressed to all those poeple having a good technical and athletic training, searching for naturalistic paths, not yet included in the traditional tourist routes. All tours are led by specialized cycling guides who, besides their sport training, are appreciated for their education and overall knowledge of the territory, making them support guests from a cultural point of view too

Participation is recommended for those people ready for sport activities of average-high levels; though all routes are well indicated and not dangerous, we have to consider the distance to be covered and the road surface, uncomfortable at intervals and sometimes presenting considerable inclinations.

1st day: arrival at Lake Maggiore, hotel check-in, meeting with the tour leader and short briefing for the presentation of the programm. Then dinner and overnight.

2nd  day: after breakfast, meeting with the tour leader and the rest of the group, then departure. The day will be spent on the area between Vergante and Mottarone: the path is for most parts on country roads, like old mule- and woodland tracks.

During the excursion the following visits can be planned:

• Gignese and its Umbrella Museum
• Coiromonte, where to stop for a short explanation on the  historical and geologic aspects of this area

The day will end with a special programm: at 7.00 p.m. meeting at the jetty in Stresa and boat transfer to Isola Pescatori, for a very good fish dinner menu in a restaurant of the isle.

3rd day: after breakfast, car transfer to Piancavallo, where the itinerary  “ Punta Morissolo to Pian Vada” will start. The path is for most parts on country roads, like old mule- and woodland tracks, through one of the most enchanting routes of the High Vergante area.
During the tour along these country roads, mined through the mounts of the High Vergante during the construction of the Linea Cadorna, stops at some historical and naturalistic sites will be planned:

Linea Cadorna and Punta Morissolo: galleries and trenches excavated in the rocks. An incomparable sight on Lake Maggiore
Folungo Pass and the den at Pian Vadà: this long climb will be rewarded by the wonderful sight on Valley Gula and Scareno

4th day: last day dedicated to bike activities: “ The V High Vergante Path”, mostly on country roads, like old mule- and woodland tracks.
During the tour some stops will be planned in:

• Cassano, a beautiful  country place vertically facing the Vergante area
• Invorio and Vergante, stop for historical and geological hints about the area
• Massino Visconti: the Visconti Family and their castle

5th day: breakfast and departure
