For all those fond of road bikes

With this tour we want to entertain those people who often use the bike: all paths are mostly planned on asphalt roads and are intended for people with a good athletic  training. During this tour guests will reach places quite far from Stresa and learn a lot about the manifold realities of our territory.

1st day: arrival at lake Maggiore, hotel check-in, meeting with the cycling guide and short briefing. Dinner and overnight.

2nd day: after breakfast, guests will leave on a tour which will take them to Valle Ossola ( Oscella dei Leponzi” as it was once known), this long valley that reaches one of the most controversial Alpine Pass: the Pass Sempione. The itinerary  proposes a cultural and historical tour of the whole Valle Ossola and reaches the following places:

Candoglia: historical hints about the quarries of the Duomo
Vogogna: history of the Visconteo Castle
Trontano: old mills
Monte Crestese: archaeological site
Sacro Monte Calvario: the Holy Mounts in VCO area
Mergozzo: The Lake of the Fairs

3rd day:
this trip along the tracks of St. Giulio is tough. The itinerary is all on asphalt roads but the path is rarely flat and presents a height difference of 1600 m.  The highest place is in Coiromonte, at 950  m. The tour touches both Lake Maggiore and Lake Orta, during which the following villages will be visited:

Agrano: the mummia of Agrano
Orta: visit of the village and historical hints  about  St. Giulio’s life ( possible visit  on the isle of  St. Giulio)
Gignese: possible visit at the Umbrella’s Museum
Comnago with its  “coppelle”, typical rocky engravings  and oversight on Lake Maggiore from the church of St. Giulio

4th day: today we put bikes aside and visit the Borromean Gulf. Together with a tourist guide, by private motorboat guests will leave and reach Isola Bella, with its gorgeous baroque palace and the terraced Italian garden, then Isola Pescatori and its nice village, where a tasty lunch will be organized. Then in the afternoon visit of Isola Madre and its gorgeous garden.

5th  day: today will be dedicated to a full immersion into the country culture and old traditions of the area. We will reach the “ alto novarese” area,  the special vineyards region, where wine like Sizzano, Ghemme and Erbaluce are produced.  The itinerary moves on the many hills of the area and counts stop at:

Bogogno: and old Jesuit village, now numbered among the “ Città del Vino”
Santa Cristina: a wine town, built on the hill  facing the Valsesia Valley
Borgomanero: old medieval centre
Arona: the statue of St. Carlo

6th day: after breakfast, departure
