In Italy there is a saying that translates:"Christmas with your family, Easter with whoever you want!" Spend Easter on Lake Maggiore this year, enjoying the Borromean Islands, the Lake Maggiore Express, delightful cuisine and the incomparable scenery of Mount Mottarone.
DAY 1

Arrival in Stresa and check-in at the hotel.
Dinner in a gourmet restaurant in the heart of the old town.
Overnight stay.
DAY 2
Your day will be spent exploring the fascinating Borromean Islands.
Isola Madre is the largest of the islands, located just off the coast of Pallanza on the other side of the gulf. It is known for its particular botanical garden with rare spieces of plants and trees from all corners of the world.
Isola Bella is Lake Maggiore's crown jewel with its unmistakeable silhouette like a ship floating on the waters. Visit the Borromeo palace with its countless art treasures and the baroque garden divided on ten terraces. Lunch will be had at Ristolounge Elvezia on the island.
Last stop is Isola Pescatori, the only island which still belongs to the people and is inhabited mostly by fishermen, hence the name Fisherman's Island. Stroll through the narrown streets and browse the typical shops before returning to Stresa.
Dinner at your own leisure and overnight stay.
DAY 3
Today you will explore the wonderful valleys that surround the lake, aboard the Lake Maggiore Express. By regional train from Stresa you will reach Domodossola. From here you will board the panoramic railway which winds across the Vigezzo Valley "The Valley of the Painters" all the way to Locarno on the Swiss tip of Lake Maggiore. Along the route you have the possibility to stop in one of the villages in the valley, like Santa Maria Maggiore where they the global Chimney Sweep Festival is held every year or Re with its majestic Sanctuary. Once in Locarno you will have some free time to browse the shops or walk along the lake front before taking the ferry back to Stresa.
Return in the early evening, dinner at leisure and overnight.
DAY 4
Breakfast in the hotel and check-out.
The morning will be dedicated to discovering Mount Mottarone, known for its incredible 360° views, stretching from the Italian and Swiss Alps all the way to the Po Valley. In fact, it is nicknamed "the Mountain of the Seven Lakes" for its dominant position, surrounded by no less than seven prealpine lakes. Stop for lunch in one of the restaurants at the top, trying som local specialities like polenta from Beura, game stew, cold cuts and cheese from the Ossola valleys.
Roundtrip with the cable car from Stresa before returning home.
